SUSSC do Val d'Isere '09 Renowned as one of the most epic events in the Southampton University calendar, notorious for its carnage, unbelievable skiing and boarding potential and guaranteed good times, the SUSSC Christmas Trip is here again! Val d’Isere is the mother of all resorts; set at the heart of the vast Espace Killy ski area, it has some of the best skiing and boarding in Europe, not to mention unbelievable après ski! 11th - 19th December 2009, only £335!   The Espace Killy offers everything you have ever dreamt of! Val d’Isere is perfect for beginners, there are wide open slopes for intermediates, there‘s great off piste potential and Olympic downhill runs for the adrenaline hunters amongst you! Figures speak louder than words and Val d’Isere had more snow than any other French resort in the last season. It is the most snow secure resort early in the season and there are few areas in the world that can rival the Espace Killy for sheer size and diversity of terrain. We will be staying in the comfort of the Chalets du Jardin Alpin and Eureka Val, which are located next door to one and other. Both are luxury 4 star residences, made up of four to eight person self catered apartments. This is the best bit; the accomodation is right on top of the slopes, so you can ski right to the door!! Most importantly though, you’ll experience a SUSSC-style week of carnage and fun!! As seasoned SUSSCateers will know, an amazing fancy-dress-crazed après-ski programme will undoubtedly provide the most memorable moments of the trip. The bars in Val D are among the most lively in the Alps. The Folie Douce, at the top La Daille gondola plays live music outside every day and is great for après ski, whilst in the heart of town, we will be raving it up in legendary bars including Dicks Tea Bar and Saloon!
A highlight of the week will be the notorious Toboggan & BBQ. This takes place in nearby Tignes Les Brevs and is great fun! After some epic pre lash, a crazy tobbogan ride and a wicked BBQ, we head to Underground Bar in Les Brevs to finish the night in style.
With 400 of Southampton's finest representing, and over 1000 students in resort in total, this week is set to be pucker! So keep the 11th - 19th December free and make sure you're on the slopes with SUSSC! Last year the trip sold out in ten days, get booking! Details on upgrades and options: The vast Espace Killy encompasses over 300km of piste and reaches a high of 3550m. A £39 upgrade to this area is suggested for intermediates and advanced skiers and boarders. If you can’t hack two coach trips in a week, SUSSC have laid on a return flight option, which is a jaw droppingly cheap £29, be quick though as places are very limited! Beginner lessons are taught by fully qualified English speaking instructors. You can choose between 3 day and 5 day blocks of lessons. If you need equipment hire, you can choose between bronze, silver and gold standards, which are available for both skiers and snowboarders. There's also a fantastic beginner package available for skiers and boarders. For only £99, beginners can get full equipment hire and a 3 day set of lessons. Beginner clothing hire is also available. A jacket and trouser set costs £44 for the week. Jacket alone costs £29. Trousers alone cost £29.
