We are very excited about using Hinterglemm for The Main Event 2008; the resort offers everything we need and more; large clubs; FIS race pistes, parks, pipes and a huge ski area as well as the classic Austrian charm and quirkiness. Also, there is no 10pm noise curfew in Austria where the bars and clubs stay open as long as there are people inside them. This has been tried and tested and means you really can enjoy every minute of Main Event 2008!

For those of you who haven’t skied or boarded much before, our relationship with the resort allows us to provide you with discounted equipment and clothing hire, and lessons!! It is the cheapest possible way to get yourself started on snow.

A full competitions schedule: including all BUSA recognised ski/board race events including the Skier/Boarder-X, Freestyle competitions including Half Pipe and King of the Hill! The finals for many of the comps will be taking place in the resort itself, allowing you to show off your skills in front of the assembled throng of BUSCateers in the central square of Hinterglemm.

For those of you that are more about the party than the piste we have arranged a HUGE outdoor stage with live bands and DJs for the opening ceremony, a club that holds 2000 people, an awesome après ski programme throughout the week and the redbull King of Bob! There will be different types of music to suit all your moods in the multiple venues across town.

We strongly encourage all SUSSCers to book onto the Basic B&B option which will provide you with that all important first meal of the day to prepare you for another day of competitions and partying. The Austrian B&Bs (or Pensions as they are known) are renowned for their topnotch quality breakfasts.

Not only do you get everything you’d get with the main week, but also an extra week of fun and games. A less hectic social programme with pub quizzes and bar crawls. This is where lasting inter-uni friendships are made!

On the hill there is the opportunity to book race and freestyle training with top coaches to prepare you for the Main Week’s competitions (training will be booked once the trip booking closes).
